Lachlaniel and the army came to the ruins of Skia. Here they camped for the night with sufficient shelter for everyone to be warm and a hot meal was prepared. They scavenged the town for any food or useful articles. There was precious little. They found some vegetables in several root cellars with which they enhanced their meal; some salted beef, but not even enough for a little for everybody; and, disturbingly, they found many stones, either abandoned heirloom stones or those whose owners were dead.

The next morning the army moved out. A full day’s march saw them approaching another small town.
